The LF/HF reader for the PPT8800 attaches to the terminal using a standard pistol grip accessory and is compatible with Windows Mobile 2003 versions with standard capacity battery only. The reader provides the Symbol™ PPT8800 with tri-band RFID functionality. The pistol grip reader is powered from the Symbol™ terminal and houses both the RFID reader and the forward facing antennas. The Symbol™ PPT8800 retains the original laser barcode functionality as well as the original communications platform housed within the terminal. The data output from the RFID reader may be simply incorporated into a Pocket PC application using the Software Development Kit (SDK). The pistol grip RFID reader provides the ability to read and write to a wide variety of transponders at all three of the common frequency bands used in RFID (125kHz, 134 kHz and 13.56 MHz. Operation at all three RFID frequency bands provides the user with the opportunity to invest in RFID equipment that is compatible with all main frequency bands. Field flash upgradability of the RFID reader firmware provides future proofing of the reader. Available as an Explorer kit which contains the reader, sample RFID tags, a Software Development Kit (which includes a demonstration application, the source code for that application and full reader documentation)
