Motorola / Symbol

The EX 3500 provides all the necessary wired networking features, plus the simplicity of a single point of management for an entire wireless and wired network infrastructure. The perfect complement for the Motorola Solutions WLAN, the EX 3500 addresses every access layer need in branch and remote office deployments. With a sleek rack-mountable configuration and high performance switching fabric, the front panel 24x1G (EX3524) and 48x1G (EX3548) models with 4x1G SFP uplink ports (on both models) more than satisfy all branch/low-density converged wired networking requirements.

This economical, standalone solution also boasts the added advantages of centralized management through Motorola Solutions WiNG-based NX Integrated Services Platforms. Easy support for a wide variety of wired networking requirements also allows easy monitoring and management of all wired and wireless equipment with the simplicity of a single pane of glass, reducing management time and complexity.

Comprehensive security features ensure that network services are uninterrupted and the data privacy is protected, while supporting multi-layer QoS including standards for data/voice and video traffic and maintaining end-to-end traffic prioritizations.

Innovative Features of the EX 3500 Ethernet Switch

Easy and cost-effective deployment with Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)
Comprehensive protocol support for 802.3af/802.3at (PoE/PoE+) at 15.4W or 30W provides future proofing, ensuring that the EX 3500 purchased today will provide power to the PoE-enabled devices of the future. The PoE budget capacity of 370W on the EX3524 and 740W on the EX3548, and simultaneous PoE on all the ports, greatly reduces power management complexity and eliminates the cost of running power to wired devices such as access points, IP phones, and video cameras.

Comprehensive security features keep network and data safe
The full range of security features supported by the EX3524/EX3548 ensures that network services are uninterrupted and data privacy is protected. User access and authentication features include access control, standards-based 802.1x port-level access control, MAC authentication, and MAC limiting. Threat detection features include DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP inspection, Proxy ARP, IP source guard, Broadcast/multicast storm control, and MAC-based port security.

Quality of Service (QoS) ensures network performance
The EX3524/EX3548 supports multi-layer QoS including 802.1p CoS and DiffServ standards for data/voice and video traffic and maintaining end-to-end traffic prioritizations. Both models support four queues per port, providing granular priority levels for various applications in a network. Scheduling and congestion control policy options include Strict, WRR, and Strict-WRR queuing algorithms.

Auto-discovery and centralized remote management through NX Integrated Services Platforms
Industry standard LLDP (Link Layer Discovery Protocol) and LLDP-MED (Link Layer Discovery Protocol-Media Endpoint Discovery) enable auto discovery of devices, VLAN configuration, and identification of power requirements for efficient power management. Centralized management support on the NX allows customers to remotely stage, configure, monitor, and manage the wired EX 3500 through NX Integrated Services Platforms-just like all of the wireless infrastructure-providing the simplicity of a single management windowpane for an entire wired and wireless network.
